31 Monsters in 31 Days: Monster 31 - Halloween Man

Well I made it through 31 Monsters in 31 Days and it wasn't easy. Didn't have the time or proper motivation this year but I made it. Lastly we get the second monster to appear every year so far my character Halloween Man in his traditional Halloween Day post. Hopefully next year I will get back to a better schedule and be on time with more of the cryptids and mythological creatures we all know and love.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh our old friend the Honey Island Swamp Monster. This is a more cartoony version and by far the best I have done of the Honey Island Swamp Monster. He is the only monster to make the 31 Monsters in 31 Days all three years . . . so far, he's a Louisiana local boy could did you expect he wouldn't be here?

Did you ever wonder if Death had any family? Well yes he does he has a much less successful younger brother Melvin. Melvin is much less a Grim Reaper and more of a Grim Sleeper. Melvin is the guy who doesn't like all the work of taking people to the afterlife so instead he just makes them oversleep and end up late for work and school and stuff people need to do.

Well I had to bring back the worst monster of them all The Mummy . . . thanks to Wheatus and the song Teenage Dirtbag for the quote (that I screwed up and forgot to write in the word "Baby" at first).

This makes 27 monsters drawn on the 27th day . . . that's what we call catching up like a boss . . . or an assistant to the regional manager.

The BLORP! is another made up creature I came up with . . . well basically he's just a purple slime creature (that's not very original) but what is original is that this creature comes when little boys and girls don't wash their feet he's drawn to the smell of stinky cheese feet and he likes to wrap his self around them and absorb all the funky foot odor.

This guy is Rage Face . . . as with just about all of this years drawings I made him up. Rage Face is a mean and nasty creature that senses anger, fear and rage. He has no eyes and uses his heightened senses of fear to stalk his victims.

I think he came out pretty good for a simple little drawing of a ghost. Crom Nom Invader 7 is pretty much the worst of the Invaders . . . and we all know how bad Invader Zim was at invading. This guy doesn't even know how to land or crash his space ship anywhere so he has been floating around space for many years just hoping to invade someone. (yeah he's an original)

This is a monster catch up Monster Fight (I was supposed to have six monsters in there but it was getting late so I went with five). These are just five made up monsters with no real names. I wish I had made the skull guy doing something more action oriented but the floating yellow blob is pretty fun with his one "POWER HAND".

I'll only be one monster behind now and I hope to get him done tomorrow along with number twenty as well.

The Jagernaug an original creature is a giant beast that lurks in the ocean near Japan. Much like Godzilla this creature has destroyed Japan numerous times but he's really just a misunderstood monster that just wants to play.

The It From Planet X this is another original monster. The idea is that he's one of those crazy aliens from the old Science Fiction movies from the 1950's who is happened upon by some astronauts and then decides that he must destroy them and the planet they came from.

I really like this guy and I think I can use him in a comic book or something.

Well all the rage in Louisiana these days is the super rare (although seems to be found everywhere) Brain Eating Amoeba. These guys are real . . . and really dangerous if you get one in your nose. The brain-eating amoeba's are a dangerous thing and if you hear of them in your area make sure you take proper precautions in dealing with them. This drawing is just having a little fun with a current topic and making it into a zombie.

So do you remember that old song from 1958 The Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley? Well I thought that I needed something new for this years crop of monsters and this one is fun. I wanted to add wings to him but I imagined them being really tiny on his back and as I said before I have been stuck on portraits for these (I think it's the paper size I'm using making me feel like I need to do them like this). Anyway I always loved the song and I thank Sheb Wooley for the inspiration.

The Boogeyman . . . the shadowy creature that hunts children from under their beds or from inside the closet where it is darkest and most scary for a young child trying to get through the night. The Boogeyman is absolute horror but several known weapons have been used against him with great success . . . flashlights, nightlights and the sleeping in the bed with your parents almost always works against the Boogeyman.

Well this one didn't come out the way I wanted and as I am already behind on this project there is no time to redraw him.

31 Monsters in 31 Days: Monster 1 - East Peoria Corn Worm

East Peoria Corn Worm - Copyright

OK so we're a bit late on the start of this project being that I was on a business trip to East Peoria, Illinois but I did get the first monster drawn while I was there. This guy is a made up creature that I thought of while in my hotel room so I decided to name him after the area. The East Peoria Corn Worm is a fierce and hungry creature that is know to appear in corn fields before the seeds are planted for the new crops to be grown. It is said that the worm will eat a farmer or a cow whole and slowly digest it's prey over the next year when it is time to feed again.

I should catch up on the drawings by the weekend.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be doing the 31 Monsters in 31 Days again this year but I will only have 29 days to get it done being that I need to go out of town for work today and tomorrow. I'll probably be able to draw the monsters but won't be able to post anything until later on in the week . . . I will still hold the final day to October 31, 2013 because it's not as fun if it doesn't end on Halloween.

Slender Man

Well on this one I really did not know who the character was. I held a contest on my Facebook page offering a free drawing and one of the winners suggested Slender Man. I didn't really do any research on him besides looking up drawings of him. I plan on finding out more about him because I really do like his look and may draw him again.
