 Once again our final monster is HALLOWEEN MAN, he's become the mascot of the 31 Monsters in 31 Days project. I really should write a story about him and maybe put him in a comic book.

Speaking of comic books it seems that there is a comic book being published out there called Halloween Man that looks like it might be cool and I want to check it out but the two characters are not anything alike visually and from what images I've seen my character isn't anywhere near that character in origins.

Speaking of things that are the same name did you know that there was a Halloween Man cologne?

Well I  said I didn't want to get behind and then the next day I'm soooo behind. Today I went with a made up monster I'm calling the Water Wart. I don't know exactly what he is but he kinda looks slimy. If you are wondering about the color I had to go digital because my markers are drying up faster than rain in the dessert and I have to keep as many as I can working for an event I have on Saturday. I actually have the monster that should actually be today's drawn but I have to color him too digitally and it won't be until tomorrow when I hopefully have two monsters to post.

The Loup Garou (or Rougarou) is Louisiana's version of the werewolf. Although I've drawn in the moon this guy doesn't need it to turn from human to werewolf or Loup Garou he can do it at will. A person infected with the curse is said to carry it for 101 days until it is passed on to another victim and the Loup Garou returns to his human form. 

PS I gave him candy corn teeth on purpose.

The Gowrow . . . now this is a new one that I had never hear of before. He's some sort of lizard-like wormy creature as far as I can tell. I couldn't find much reference for him since this creature from northwest Arkansas is mostly a forgotten tale that may not have ever really been sighted by person. It is thought by some that the story was made up for the newspaper as no other reports existed on this creature. For more check out this article about the Gowrow here.

All the way from UTAH . . . errrr IDAHO . . . ehhhh nobody knows . . . THE BEAR LAKE MONSTER!!! This guy has been seen since 1868 and there have been many accounts on what he actually looks like . . . I figured that if he's a sea serpent he should be green or blue . . . so green with a couple of blue spots. What's really weird about this guy is that it is said that he has been seen with 18 inch long legs . . . there was no way that I could draw that maddness.

Slenderman . . . I’ve drawn this guy a few times in the past the first time he was requested as a commission for someone about three years ago and I couldn’t believe that I had never heard of him before. This guy was originally created by Eric Knudsen back in 2009 as an Internet Meme and he has taken on a life of his own. Knudsen has allowed artist to use his character in the past but does own the rights to him. Slender Man is known for stalking and abducting his victims especially children. He is tall with unnaturally long arms and legs with tentacle or hooked type arms and is often shown with four more tentacle like limbs coming from his back. The Slender Man dresses in a black suit with a red tie and has a white head that has minimal to no features. Wikipedia says that “Proximity to the Slender Man is often said to trigger a “Slender sickness”; a rapid onset of paranoia, nightmares and delusions accompanied by nosebleeds.” 

I like this guy he’s kind of creepy and weird and fun. I’d love to see a really well done movie featuring him.

I was asked by my cousin to draw a "pretty Medusa" for this project . . . well I really haven't figured out how to draw "pretty" anything but I did do a new Medusa. The one that I did back in 2011 had scary teeth and her snake tongue sticking out and her skin was green. This time I went with yellow skin and gave her a red dress and a necklace . . . and some buggy alien eyes that when all put together guarantees that she's a little bit more "pretty" than the 2011 version. Yeah well I tried to sell it and if you're buying that explanation I need to talk to you about some ocean front property in Arizona.

Well who doesn't like big toothed skeletons? I brought back this monster because they are fun to draw and super silly looking. I've posted two versions of this because after the initial coloring I didn't like the background but since I scanned it already why not let you choose which one that you like best. Another technical issue is that the scanner I've been using does not like the light grey markers and everything is a bit "hotter" than it should be. Anyway here are a couple of skeletons wearing t-shirts relating to my old comic book Strange City Heroes.

The Fouke Monster is a southern version of the sasquatch or Big Foot that was seen in the early 1970's near Fouke, Arkansas. I remember this guy from the movie The Legend of Boggy Creek and it's many sequels and he is pretty much the same as the other hairy monsters that are found in wooded areas across the United States.The Fouke Monster is known for taking livestock and dogs and has been known to attack humans on several occasions.

I read that he had big red eyes and so I figured that they should be big and red and silly and well that's what we have here.

The Aswang . . . okay I laugh every time I say that name. This guy comes from the Philippines and is supposed to be a ghoulish vampire-like werewolf. They are shapeshifters and daywalkers that like to eat young children. The Aswang also has the ability to create doppelgangers of its victims out of inanimate objects that it sends back to it’s original home and then the doppelganger will die as if it were the real person.

In my brief ten minutes of research on this guy I found that he has been drawn a lot of different ways so I kind of just made up what I thought he might look like. 

Look him up on wikipedia this guy is kinda gross and terrible . . . if you are not his neighbor.

I'mmmmmm Baaaaaccccccccccckkkkkkkkkk! So it's been a year and I really thought about not doing this this year . . . about two days ago I said to myself "I gotta keep it going" so here we go 31 Monsters in 31 Days Year 4.

We are starting off with a revisiting of The Abominable Snowman (last seen in 2011). This version is a much meaner looking creature than the one I did back in 2011. I kinda feel like this guy just got off of work being Abominable and was just in a bad mood which also makes me want to give him a word balloon with him saying "I need a beer."
